With a good cruising boat, you can find those "secret spots".

Golfo Dulce

Bahia Drake — Bahia Drake (08 deg. 41.84 min. N., 083 deg. 40.06 min. W.) can be rolly when there is a swell. Ask the locals about some secret spots nearby.

Matapalo — Matapalo is at the entrance to the Golfo Dulce (08 deg. 23.73min. N., 083 deg. 16.23min. W.) and has three very good breaks. But the closest anchorage is 19 miles away at Puerto Jimenez. We anchored there and took day trips down to Matapalo in the big boat, anchoring just while we surfed, then returning to Jimenez. Jimenez is pretty cool and offers supplies, internet etc.

Pavones — Pavones is on the other side of Golfo Dulce and has no anchorage. Get there by Jimenez or Golfito, surf and return. This is a famous spot known for long, long lefts. It's a great wave so don't miss this one. It's worth it.
